The brass material changes over time from a platinum gold color to an antique gold color as it is used. Dahl black plating is an aging type plating in which the underlying copper plating layer gradually becomes exposed from matte black. Since nickel plating is a hard metal film, it can be used for a long period of time with a silver color.
